The Field Service Engineer Apprenticeship will begin with a training program based in our corporate office (in Snoqualmie, WA).  The FSE Apprentice will learn about our products (hardware, software, components, connectivity, schematics and technical specifications).  Once fully trained, an FSE is responsible for quality service of Spacelabs products and for customer satisfaction within an assigned territory.

Job Description

Revenue

  • Achieve annual revenue goal by promoting sales of service contracts, billable services, and Spacelabs’ products and offerings.
  • Support Regional Service Manager and region in achieving assigned Operating profit goals.
  • Install approved equipment upgrades and modifications as required in accordance with technical documents and publications.
  • Install and relocate Spacelabs products in accordance with policies, procedures and approved technical documents and publications.

Administrative

  • Perform all assigned PM's, PA’s and remedial maintenance, and provide necessary records to hospitals and Regional Service Manager (RSM).
  • Provide RSM with accurate and complete reports in a timely manner.
  • Prepare service Contract Quotes in coordination with RSM and Contract Administration.
  • Respond to all assigned customer service calls and apply corporate policy guidelines.
  • Submit accurate and complete reports in a timely manner regarding expenses, timecards and service reports.
  • Support sales efforts by assisting with equipment demonstrations and clinical evaluations.
  • Control and maintain assigned Spacelabs assets in accordance with policies and directions.
  • Successfully complete all Spacelabs Product Training.
  • Uphold Spacelabs values of Customer Obsession, Ownership Mindset and Superior Results.
  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with the Company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
  • It is the responsibility of every Spacelabs Healthcare employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

Job Qualifications

  • Associate of Science Degree in electronics or a related technical discipline; or equivalent technical training from an accredited program in biomedical, electronic or computer technology; or equivalent military training and experience.
  • Proficient computer skills including networking, Microsoft Windows 2000, XP operating systems. Also application specific proficiency on Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office products. Lotus Notes experience a plus.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of an organization effectively.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across business functions.
  • Travel required 70% - 80 %, with some overnights.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record and be insurable per company policy.
  • Work various shifts as deemed necessary for successful installation and training.
  • Successful completion of Spacelabs training required (including training done at Company location). Must become fully competent in the application and operation of all assigned products and systems.

  • Following successful completion of training, must be willing to relocate anywhere in the continental United States (as determined by the needs of the business).
  • Required to register with a vendor credentialing service.  As part of this process, you will be required to submit personal information to a credentialing service company, to provide proof of vaccinations or related medical information, and to comply with other requirements needed to be able to work at customer site. 
  • Will be required to complete applicable US federal background checks and meet requirements for access to US government facilities and/or government IT networks.
  • Ability to obtain U.S. Security Clearance required.
  • May require crawling, kneeling, working in confined spaces and/or on a ladder
  • May need to do work overhead in these conditions while moving and/or lifting items such as test equipment, tools, and cables weighing up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques or material moving equipment.
